水天需 - Water-Sky Require
外卦是坎，先天五行中属水。内卦是乾，后天五行中属阴金。
需，会意字，遇雨，停在那里等待。
水依金而生，自然现象。阴金含“水”，在水的环境挺好的。让水把附着在自身的泥土污渍冲刷掉。
External trigram is Kan, which belongs to water in the Primordial Trigrams. Internal trigram is Qian, which belongs to yin metal in the Derived Trigrams.
"需" means to wait, it has a connotation of encountering rain and stopping there to wait.
Water is born from metal, a natural phenomenon. Yin metal contains "water," and it is well-adapted to water's environment. It allows water to wash away the dirt and stains attached to itself.
有孚，光亨，贞吉。利涉大川
With trust, there is brightness with consistency, being upright and adhering to the right path and gain good fortune. It is advantageous to cross great rivers.
水把珍宝的污渍冲洗干净，光彩熠熠的样子。所以说，光亨。
Water washes away the dirt and stains of valuable treasures, becoming shining and brilliant. So it is said to be bright with consistency.
爻辞 - Line Commentary
初九。需于郊，利用恒，无咎
(Waiting and) being required in the suburbs, benefit by perseverance, without harm.
郊，上古时代国都外百里以内的地区称“郊”；
恒，永久、永恒的意思。这里做维持本性不变的意思。
草木蒙茂，欣欣向荣，好好维持这个状态。需要提前做好随时应对风雨的准备（在郊区就做好应付风雨的准备），有效的利用。达到“化被动为主动”，化险为夷的效果。所以说，需于郊，利用恒，无咎。
这一爻说的是，未雨绸缪，不妄进。
The grass and trees are thick and luxuriant, thriving and flourishing. It is important to maintain this state and be prepared for winds and rains (prepare for winds and rains in the suburbs) and make effective use of them. This achieves the effect of "transforming passiveness into activeness" and turning danger into safety. So it is said, "(Waiting and) being required in the suburbs, benefit by perseverance, without harm."
This line refers to making preparations before the rain comes, and not rashly advancing.
九二。需于沙，小有言，终吉
Being required in sand, there will be small complaint, but in the end it will be auspicious.
言，言语、口语。特指怨言、谤言。
基础建设就像沙子注水化为泥土。沙子需要足够的雨水能够变成泥土。
好好利用雨水资源，改造薄弱的环节。开始的时候效果不明显，可能会受到别人一些非难指责。但只要雨水充足，沙土终会变成沃田。那是好事！所以说，需于沙，小有言，终吉。
这一爻说的是，耐心应对，相信自己。
The foundation construction is like sand being transformed into soil by water. Sand needs enough rainwater to become soil.
Make good use of the rainwater resources and transform the weak links. At the beginning, the effect may not be obvious and may be criticized by others. But as long as there is enough rainwater, the sand will eventually turn into fertile land. That's good news! So it is said, "Being required in sand, there will be small complaint, but in the end it will be auspicious."
This line refers to patience and believing in oneself.
九三。需于泥，致寇至
Being required in mud, leading to invasion.
竞争过程，要为自己留好退路。要不然，就像待在泥地之中，雨水却变泥土为沼泽，让自己陷入困难的境地。这种情况下，很容易引来“吃小鱼的大鱼”，这是因为自己的软弱而招致的侵犯。所以说，需于泥，致寇至。
这一爻说的是，不虑胜，先思败。
In the competition process, you must leave yourself an escape route. Otherwise, it's like staying in the mud and the rain turning the soil into a swamp, putting yourself in a difficult situation. In this case, it is easy to attract "big fish eating small fish" due to one's own weakness and invite infringement. Therefore, being required in mud, leading to invasion.
This line says to not worry about victory and think about defeat first.
六四。需于血，出自穴
Being required in blood, to come out of one's own cave.
经历风雨磨砺，从竞争对手中杀出了一条血路。离开自己的小窝，真正成长起来了。所以说，需于血，出自穴。
这一爻说的是，足够强，才能谈合作。
After experiencing the trials of wind and rain, a path of blood has been carved out from the competitors. Leaving one's own nest and truly growing up. Therefore, being required in blood, to come out of one's own cave.
This line says that one must be strong enough to discuss cooperation.
九五。需于酒食，贞吉
Being required in wine and food, being upright and adhering to the right path and gain good fortune.
站稳了脚跟，持续的受益，整日里花天酒地无所事事的样子，等待（新的机会）。保持正定，好啊！所以说，需于酒食，贞吉。
这一爻说的是，有足够的利益，守正，怎么样都不会过分。
Having a stable footing and continuous benefits, a day full of leisure, waiting (for new opportunities). Maintaining composure, great! So, being required in wine and food, being upright and adhering to the right path and gain good fortune.
This line says, having enough benefits, keeping right, never going overboard.
上六。入于穴，有不速之客三人来，敬之，终吉
Entering the cave, there are three unexpected guests, respectful them, finally lucky.
雨水越下越大，但是自己准备周全，回到自己家安心享受。但是外面雨大，实在受不了了，于是不请自来，登门请求避雨。热心招待，不要小瞧他人。学习外来者的经验，分享外来者的机会。有收获，就是好的。所以说，入于穴，有不速之客三人来，敬之，终吉。
这一爻说的是，自身足够稳固，自然有人来投。
The rain is getting heavier, but one is prepared, returning home and enjoying peace. However, outside it's too rainy, unbearable, so unexpected guests come and seek shelter. Hospitably entertain, don't underestimate others. Learn from the experiences of outsiders, share the opportunities of outsiders. Gaining is good. So, entering the cave, there are three unexpected guests, respectful them, finally lucky.
This line says, being sturdy oneself, naturally having people come.
人多力量大，但是和外来者思路有出入，就要据理力争，小心争讼。
Many people means great strength, but if there are differences in thoughts with outsiders, argue rationally, be cautious of disputes.
